You Are A Showpiece (But where are you displayed?)

A friend posted an inspirational picture on Facebook today, with a comforting thought:

“God made you so He could love you.”

and a sub-line which said:

“Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of GOD.”

I like the idea – but as I’ve addressed on a different passage, it’s not Scriptural.

I get jealous for the Word when God-loving brothers and sisters are cheated out of knowing so much more, of understanding so much more, because their pulpits and study groups are rife with well-meaning (and ultimately unedifying) “appetizer platters” and they never get around to the actual “meat” of Scripture.

“For it became him,  (God the Father)
for whom [are] all things,
and by whom [are] all things,
in bringing many sons unto glory, (that’s us, church)
to make the captain of their (the sons) salvation perfect through sufferings. (speaking of Christ here.)

“For both he that sanctifieth (Christ) and they who are sanctified (the believers)  [are] all of one:
for which cause he (Christ) is not ashamed to call them (us) brethren.

“For verily he took not on [him the nature of] angels; but he took on [him] the seed of Abraham.
“Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things [pertaining] to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. ”
(Hebrews 2:10-11, 16-17Hebrews 2:10-11, 16-17
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, 16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. took not...: Gr. taketh not hold of angels, but of the seed of Abraham he taketh hold 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

God did not make you so that He could love you – He loved the whole world –

God did not make you so that He could love you. He made you to display His grace –

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus
That, in the ages to come, he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in [his] kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7Ephesians 2:4-7
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

Do you think you have some goodness in you with which you might impress Him? Have you not read –

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights…” (James 1:17James 1:17
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

When you stand before Him, will you say:

Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22Matthew 7:22
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Or will you say:

… ‘We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.’ ” (Luke 17:10Luke 17:10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Do you count yourselves fortunate to be one of the called? Well and good, but consider:

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.” (2 Timothy 2:202 Timothy 2:20
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

We, rather, should be thankful for His patience; as His love for us-ward is what stems the tide of Judgment upon this world:

[What] if God, willing to shew [his] wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?” (Romans 9:22-24Romans 9:22-24
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: fitted: or, made up 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

O Brother or Sister, how can you worry if God loves you?

Be of great courage, and Hide this Word in your heart!

But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that,
while we were yet sinners,
Christ died
for us.
(Romans 5:8Romans 5:8
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
